The trek to the North Face of Everest Base Camp is one of the most popular short treks in Tibet. The 1300 year old Jokhang Temple
A view of the great Mt. Everest
We begin our trip by exploring the sights and sounds of the fabled city of Lhasa and drive across the Tibetan hinterland to Nepal border visiting the ancient towns of Gyangtse, Shigatse en route.

In Dingri we meet our Sherpa support staffs and trek for the next 5 days to the Everest Base Camp. We are probably one of the few Nepali outfits that engage our own Sherpa staffs for all our trek services in the Tibetan Himalayas.

FORBIDDEN LHASA & KANGSHUNG TREK (TIB-108)
20 days Overland journey from Lhasa to Nepal border & trek to the Everest East Kangshung Face
EX - Kathmandu/Chengdu/Beijing
Best Season: May-June & Sept-Nov

The trek to the east face of Everest known as the Kangshung Face is one of the most gorgeous in the world. This trek is relatively unknown and it passes through pristine, untouched valleys and lakes. In fact, the entire region from Kharta to the Kama Valley - extending to the Arun Valley on the Nepal side - is part of the blessed land of Guru Rinpoche called "Be-yul Khembalung" or the Hidden Valley.

The 1300 year old Jokhang Temple
The imposing Kangshung (East) Face of Everest & Lhotse at sunrise from Pethang Ringmo, Kangshung Valley, Tibet.

The whole region abounds with holy lakes, mountains, and the sacred "Kharta Tsechu", the long life water spring. Kharta and the Kama Valley are characterized by magnificent alpine scenery and rich flora and contain the highest known forests in the world. Three of the world's highest peaks Everest 8848 m, Lhotse 8501 m, and Makalu 8463 m overlook the valley.

We begin our trip by exploring the fabled city of Lhasa and head out to Nepal border through the rugged mountain terrain visiting places of interest en route. At Dingri we meet our Nepali Sherpa trekking crews and then continue to Kharta from where we formally commence our trek.. We are probably one of the few Nepali outfits that engage our own Sherpa staffs for all of our trekking trips in the Tibetan Himalayas.
