Day 01: Arrive Paro International Airport. During your flight you will experience breath-taking view of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga and other famous Himalayan peaks, including the sacred Jumolhari and Mount Jichu Drake in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by our representative escorted your hotel.
Day 02: Paro - Sightseeing. Visit the National Museum (Ta-Dzong). This was actually the Watchtower of the Paro Rinpung Dzong. Visit the Rinpung Dzong. This massive fortress is located on a hilltop above the Pachu (Paro river) in the Paro valley. We also visit the Drukgyal Dzong. The name Drukgyal means ¡®Victorious Bhutanese¡¯. It was built to commemorate the victory over the Tibetan army and forms one of the many chains of defensive fortresses against the Tibetan invasions. Also on the cards is a visit to the Kichu Monastery. It is considered one of the holiest places in Bhutan as it marks the advent of Buddhism in the country.
Day 03: Paro - Thimphu. This morning follow the winding road beside the Pa Chu (Chu means river or water) down stream to its confluence with the Wangchu, then up valley to Thimphu, the capital. Afternoon lunch at Hotel. After lunch visit the Memorial Chorten, here the faithful circumambulate the shrine dedicated to the Late King saying their prayer beads as they walk. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 04: Thimphu sight-seeing and then drive for about 4 hours to Wangdiphodrang via Punakh. We stay at the Wangdue Kichu Resort.
Day 05: Drive 6 hrs to Bumthang. Bumthang (the "Plain of Ghosts") is a land of mysteries and mystics and tales of the great Guru Padmasambhava who performed formidable feats and miracles in historical time in this place still hold sway.
A beautiful sighting of Jakar Dzong, "Castle of the White Bird," can be had from View Point. Lunch will be served in a Hotel. Afternoon, a hike up to Lame Gompa, a temple built by the First King of Bhutan for his two nun sisters. Outside Lame Gompa one can see a workshop for traditional Bhutanese paper-making. Overnight halt in Hotel.
Day 06: Trek Starts. Bumthang - Ngang Ihakhang 15 kms. 4 to 5 hours walking. The trek route takes you around the Chamkhar Chu a river known for its richness in trout. Lunch stop at Tangbi Lhakhang- then you enter the land Ngang Yul with its centre swan temple Nganglhakhang. This part of the valley was first inhabited by the swans who gave their name Ngang. The Lamanamkha Samdrup having dreamt a vision of how to build a Gompa shot an arrow and at the spot where the arrow landed Nganglhakhang was erected. Cultural programme can be arranged in the evening.
Day 07: Ngang Ihakhang- Ugyencholing 16kms. 5 to 6 hours. Climb gradually to Phephela pass Alt. 3353m. the highest point on the trek route. The trail you follow until the pass takes you through one of the most beautiful frosted area of this region. Allowing for many stops to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Day 08: Ugyenchholing - Bumthang (a day can be extended to trek to Ural village).
Day 09: Return journey: Drive to Wangdiphodrang. Over-night stay at the Kichu Wangdi Resort.
Day 10: Drive 5 hrs to Paro. Over-night stay at the Kichu Resort.
Day 11: Farewells and transfers to the airport.
